The Best Places to Enjoy Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Blog Post By Meg Barkley
When you mention Napa Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon usually comes to mind.
At Clif Family, we tend our Cabernet Sauvignon vines organically and our Winemaker Laura Barrett takes special care when crafting our wines in the cellar.
Each fall, we release new vintages from our Howell Mountain Estate. We are always looking for an excuse to pop a cork, pour a glass and celebrate the season and the Cabernet Sauvignon grape!
We’ve curated a list of some of our favorite places to enjoy a glass or bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa Valley.
Relax and Cab
Calistoga’s first spa dates to 1862. Don’t miss out on what this one-stoplight town has to offer in the way of rest and relaxation. We suggest booking a treatment at Moonacre Spa & Bath or Dr. Wilkinson’s Spa for a luxurious mud bath or massage. Complete your treatment poolside, with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon and let the unwinding begin.
Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
At Clif Family we produce three Cabernet Sauvignon wines from our Howell Mountain property. Our , Cima, Croquet and Cold Springs Estate Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons are small production wines that garner much praise from wine critics. Our Cabernets are sought after by wine collectors and appreciated by new wine lovers too. Book our Cabernet Tasting at our downton St. Helena Tasting Room to immerse yourself in the full Clif Family wine experience. Our Executive Chef John McConnel has thoughtfully paired seasonal ingredients from our farm with each wine.
A Small Town Stroll
Yountville is home to Michelin Star restaurants, art galleries, tasting rooms, and some extra small-town charm. Begin your visit at one of our favorite spots, R+D Kitchen. Order a bottle of our Climber Bordeaux blend to pair with their burger or meatloaf. After you’re sated, we encourage you to stretch your legs and stroll through downtown Yountville. You’ll pass by Thomas Keller’s Culinary Gardens; and many art installations by local artists.
A Classic View
Auberge du Soleil has one of the best views in the Valley. From their Rutherford property you can enjoy views of the Mayacamas mountain range. We recommend booking a table at their Bistro and Bar for a quick bite of oysters, fries, or cheese and a charcuterie plate. Or enjoy a pre-fix menu at their restaurant. For only a $40 corkage fee, you can bring your favorite Clif Family Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon to make it a very special dining experience.
Rooftop Sipping
The Archer’s Sky and Vine Rooftop Bar is the place to end your evening in downtown Napa. Enjoy gorgeous 360-degree valley views. Grab a seat by the firepit and peruse their extensive wine list, highlighting small-production Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons.
Cheers to Cabernet in the Napa Valley!
