After two days of intense heat, harvest has really hit hard this week and we are feeling the energy and work load in the winery. Fruit is coming in by the truckload, processing is happening simultaneously with drain and press, pump overs, and barrel downs. Additions, inoculations, white wines get sulfur and topped. Oh no, it’s time to top last year’s barrels! Vineyard visits and sampling, schedule next week’s pick, ship bins out. It’s the busiest moment of the year. Though wine takes much time to make, in the vineyard, in the barrel and in the bottle, it is truly made in this moment.
